The main themes that were dealt with in the course were related to activities such as brain gym, reaction vs response, yoga, mindfulness. In the long run, the application of such techniques could contribute to the reduction of negative thinking in everyday’s life and work. The main causes of burn out and anxiety generate an average of 80% negative thoughts both in teachers and students everyday.
Episodes of social withdrawing, panic attacks and fear of the future are common issues at school everyday. The main strategies to deal with such difficulties could be: guided meditation (mindfulness, elimination of stressors in the class), movement meditation (5 senses involved), rainbow walk, blindfold walks, terapeutic art exercises (mandala painting), collaborative meditation (balloon exercise), team building techniques.
Open air activities such as meditation walks and territory explorations were also included in the programme. Such a mindful approach would be extremely helpful in creating a relaxed and positive atmosphere, leading as a consequence to more successful and meaningful results in the class, both in terms of personal relationship and didactic.
